| Blues Cafe featuring The Georgia Healers
Sold Out!
On Friday March 26th, the East Room of the Crawford School will be the hottest spot in Oglethorpe County as it adopts a night club atmosphere for an evening of blues by The Georgia Healers. This free concert is sponsored in part by a grant from the Grassroots Arts Program and the Madison Morgan Cultural Center. Sit back and enjoy the traditional, Texas-style Blues or take to the dance floor and kick up your heels!

The Georgia Healers have been Athens' premier blues band for over 20 years. If you like your blues old school, these guys are the real deal. Occasionally traveling to Atlanta, Savannah, Macon and Charleston, they are a staple of the Athens scene. The Georgia Healers have been around a time or three and have played with just about anyone you can think of -- from legends like Willie Dixon, Chuck Berry & John Lee Hooker to contemporaries like The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Ronnie Earl & Anson Funderburgh. Last September The Georgia Healers released their latest CD, Heal This! produced by John Keane (REM, Widespread Panic, Cowboy Junkies…). The band consists of Donnie Ray Simonds on vocals & harmonica, John Straw on bass, Jimmy Boleman and John Davis on guitar, and Steve Harding on drums, with an occasional appearance by our own Mamie Fike Simonds (of Heavy Feather and the A!O stage) on backup vocals.
Although tickets for the event are free and it is open to the public, tickets are needed as seating is limited. Table seating with light refreshments available. Don’t miss this special event for Oglethorpe County --- the Blues will set you free!
